Horse Racing: Course at the double

A DOUBLE bill of horse-racing and shopping are on offer at Perth Racecourse on Wednesday and Thursday when the Scone Palace Park venue hosts its Perthshire Showcase Meeting.

The meeting has attracted 30 stands which will showcase a huge range of the finest local produce the Big County has to offer.

Among the stalls will be handcrafted goods, jewellery, music and local food and drink.

Also on offer over the two days is a fitness gym where visitors can receive fitness advice or alternatively relax with massages and reiki.

The13 National Hunt races over the two days have a total of just under £100,000 prize money, making this one of the most valuable two days jumping in the UK this summer.

Perth Racecourse Sam Morshead general manager said: “There are good entries for both days, and we have plenty of horses coming over from Ireland.

“To ensure the event makes for an enjoyable family day out, the Showcase Meeting will also feature a bouncy castle, children’s adventure play area and entertainment.

“It is a day to be enjoyed by all ages, whether you are a frequent racegoer or not.”

Gates open tomorrow and Thursday at noon.
