Weightlifting: Clubs wins three titles

PITLOCHRY Weightlifting Club members won three titles at the Scottish Masters Open at the Palace of Arts, Glasgow on Saturday.

Alex Phillips won the 69kg (45–49 years) class, he snatched 55kg and clean and jerked 72kg for a 127kg total.

This was Alex's 19th Scottish title. Ian Robertson won his 15th Scottish title by winning the 85kg (35–39 years) class, he snatched 100kg and jerked 126kg to total 226kg.

Alan Davidson successfully defended his title in the 77kg (40–44 years) class with a 85kg snatch and a 107kg jerk for a 192kg total.

Alan and Ian have now qualified for the Scottish Seniors in November.

Robert Borthwick came second in the 94kg (45–49 years) class with a 73kg snatch and a 95kg clean and jerk for a 168kg total his best of the year.

Paul Rae lifting as a guest in the 94kg class snatched 109kg and clean and jerked 141kg for a personal best total of 250kg.

The club would like to thank Robertson's of Pitlochry for their help with travelling arrangements for this competition.

The club are holding the Eastern Districts on September 19, in the Atholl Leisure Centre.
