Gymnastics: Perth girls win silverware

THE  recently-held Perth and Kinross Secondary Schools’ Gymnastics Competition saw 19 teams from six schools competing and displaying great sportsmanship.

Organised by the council's Gymnastics Development Officer, the event was held at Bell's Sports Centre in Perth.

Competition was fierce, with the top two teams at each level qualifying to represent Perth and Kinross at the Scottish National Schools’ Championships in Perth on March 21, 2010.

The hard work put in by the young people to prepare for the event paid off with Crieff High School taking the Level 1 Champion award and Level 2 being shared by Perth Grammar School and Perth Academy.

Lifelong Learning convener, Councillor Liz Grant said: “My thanks go to everyone involved in the organisation and running of the competition – the council's Sports Development Team, Active Schools’ co-ordinators, teaching staff, coaches and the volunteers who helped on the day.”

All will be competing at the Scottish finals in March.
