PERTH snooker player Bobby Cruikshanks landed the Scottish Snooker Open title at the weekend.
The final of the prestigious amateur event at the World of Snooker venue in Edinburgh was dominated by the Fair City life-guard receiving the trophy from East of Scotland Snooker Association honorary president Dr Frank Rushbrook.
Cruikshanks (29) beat teenage Bonnyrigg star Michael Leslie by five frames to two in a tense two-a-half hour final.
The Perth player went into a 2-0 lead with opening breaks of 37 and 34.
Leslie hit back in the third frame but he found himself 3-1 down at the break when Cruikshanks notched up a 41 break on the way to winning 60-22.
The pressure was piled on Leslie when Cruikshanks went 4-1 in front when winning the first frame of the second session 66-21, before Leslie again showed his fighting qualities by winning the sixth frame with an excellent long blue.
However, there was to be no stopping Cruikshanks as he recovered from a 27-point deficit to make the biggest break of the night, a 57, which proved to be enough to win the frame.
