MOTORSPORT enthusiasts from Perthshire and beyond flocked to Cowdenbeath recently for the annual Racewall World Cup.
Defending champion Dale Hughes beat off competition from a host of turbo-charged rivals to retain his crown.
As well as the main World Cup showpiece, the consolation race was suspended after a multiple shunt blocked the track and snared most of the field.
The ministox drivers were in top form as usual with Grant Mitchell, on his first outing of the season, sending Ross Watters into a spin as he took the lead on the last bend.
Non-qualifiers were split into two categories, with Garry Mallinson taking the lead when long-time leader Rickie Finney retired with a puncture.
Luke Dawson then ran away with the second consolation race and, along with Mallinson, took his place on the World Cup grid.
After a parade lap, a total of 40 cars lined-up ready for the off and, when the green flag dropped, Matt Thredgeld dived inside to take the lead, moving ahead of Shane Davies and Wilf Speak.
Mark Puddiphatt was sent spinning on the main straight and then six drivers piled into each other.
Charlie King retired as Rod Speak moved ahead, and Allan Wardle retired with a wrecked front end.
However, the race was suspended after Wilf Speak ended-up on his roof after a four car shunt on the top bend.
Rob Speak won the shortened consolation race, after leading the overall final before falling foul of a shunt.
This handed the lead to Glynn Platts and he went on to take the chequered flag.
Phil Smith triumphed in the Destruction Derby.
The saloons are back in action on Saturday (April 24), along with the stock and hot rods, with the meeting starting at 6pm.
