PERTHSHIRE HOCKEY CLUB - PA FRIDAY OCTOBER 29

THE Ladies 1st XI were in action both days last weekend.

On Saturday, they were playing in the League Cup group games against Kinross and St Andrews University 2's.

It was played as a round robin with Perthshire playing two one-hour games back to back.

Unfortunately, they lost both games and so won't play in the final.

On Sunday, a squad of 11 travelled by minibus to Inverurie to play in the last 32 of the District Cup.

Having travelled all that distance the ladies were determined to win and Perthshire put Inverurie under pressure right from the start and throughout the match.

Two goals from Louise Medine and a tight angled reverse sweep from Ciara Elwis finished the game at 3–1 to Perthshire.

The ladies now progress to the last 16 but their opposition is yet to be decided.

The Ladies 2nd XI were also in action in their League Cup group games on Saturday in Brechin.

Losing to Brechin and a draw against their second opposition team allowed the ladies to progress to the final of the league plate final which will take place tomorrow (Saturday).

Perthshire Mens 1st XI went into this weekend second top of National League Three, following good wins over Stirling University and Aberdeen University the previous weekend.

On Saturday 'Shire faced Dundee University, who sat fourth in the league.

The Uni side had the best of possession and went in at half-time 1–0 up.

Perthshire came back into the game for a spell in the second half.

Gregor McIntosh levelled the game, converting a cross from Neil Robertson.

Shortly after, Scott Turkington took the ball from a free hit into the circle to take the lead.

Perthshire's spell of pressure was short-lived and it was only a matter of time before Dundee Uni levelled the score, and close to full-time, took the lead to win the game 3–2.

On Sunday, the men's 1st XI set out on ‘Mission Impossible’ to face National League One side, Grove Menzieshill, in the last 16 of the Scottish Cup.

Despite a valiant effort from the Perthshire side, they were overwhelmed by the Dundee side, who eased through to the quarter finals, with a 12–0 win, including eight penalty corner conversions.

Last Saturday a very inexperienced 3rd XI travelled to play Giffnock 3rd's in the Scottish Reserve Cup.

They more than matched their more experienced opponents but were unfortunate to lose out on penalty flicks after drawing 1–1 after 70 minutes.

They were 1–0 down at half-time but the not so youthful G Loudon equalised from a short corner midway through the second half.

Credit must go to Jamie Arnaud (11) who was making his debut in the team and was unlucky not to score.
