Perth College cricket stars

UHI Perth College cricketers reached yet another milestone after qualifying for the Scottish Student Sport National Indoor Cricket finals day to be held at the National Cricket Academy in February.

The Fair City side finished runners up to Dundee University in the Caledonia Region Indoor heats which were held in Bells Sports Centre.

After beating highly rated Aberdeen University and also seeing off Robert Gordon University, the side progressed through to the national students’ finals day.

Captain Mahesh Rednam is upbeat, insisting: “It's great to see the team progressing in the indoor format of the game.”

This comes hard on the heels of a very successful summer season, with the team winning the BUCS (British University and College Sport) Scottish 4th Division title during the summer.

Mahesh said: “Qualifying for the finals is a great start for the next summer season which lies ahead."

The talented team at Perth College has only been established for a year and has been developed with the support of local cricket development officer, Kirsteen Ross.
