Award for Perth Races

SAM Morshead and his team at Perth Racecourse celebrated Christmas early with news they had reclaimed the Best Small Racecourse in Scotland and North East of England Award.

The Racecourse Club accolade tops off a memorable year for the country’s most northerly track.

The awards are keenly contested and racegoers throughout the UK have their say.

With Racegoers Club membership comprising nearly 6,000 of the sport’s keenest supporters, and members going racing on average 31 times a year, no one is better qualified to pass judgement on which courses deserve recognition, making the awards even more special to the winners.

This is the third time in the past five years that Perth Racecourse has been voted the Best Small Racecourse in Scotland and the North East of England.

Lapping-up the early Christmas present, general manager Morshead said: “We’re honoured to have been presented with this award. To win the title of Best Small Racecourse in Scotland and the North East of England is a great accolade for us and demonstrates that the Perth Racecourse experience is one that is enjoyed by regular racing fans.”

He continued: “The Racegoers Club criteria for winning this award are based around the visitors’ overall enjoyment.

“We are now planning and working towards ‘raising the bar’ even further for all our visitors next year and we will do all we can to ensure that the high expectations of all our visitors are achieved, if not exceeded.”

Perth Racecourse will be up and running again in April, opening with the three-day Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer Perth Festival.
