PERTH Road Runners hosted the annual club Heaven and Hell Half Marathon last Sunday.
Over 170 runners from across the UK took to the infamous 13.1-mile course on what was a fine and cool Sunday morning.
First home for the club was Michael Wilson in a very respectable time of 1.31.57.
Stuart Robertson was next to cross the line in a time of 1.34.08. Hot on his heels was David Burrows in 1.34.09. Kenny Fletcher completed the course in 1.36.53, Simon Grieshaber finished in 1.40.49, Grant Strachan in 1.43.22, Hamish Shankland in 1.43.23, Hugh Daly in 1.48.19.
Sarah Archer completed a fine effort in 1.48.37 and club stalwart Bob Brown brought home the Green vests in 1.54.09.
Once the racing was finished runners were treated to the infamous spread of home cooking laid on by club members and supporters, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all after some excellent performances on the road.
The club would like to send their thanks and appreciation to the supporters and sponsors of the event, without whom it would not have been possible. In Particular, Highland Spring, for their support and contribution of bottled water, which was much appreciated especially by those out on the course.
Those who volunteered their time as marshals for the event were highly praised by many of the runners for their enthusiastic and encouraging displays of support, without which it was said the course would have been much more challenging.
Sunday, April 15 will see a number of members travel West to Fort William for the 29th Team Strides Lochaber Marathon hosted by Lochaber AC.
The course follows an out and back route along the shores of Loch Eil.
The course is perfect for those members chasing a PB over the 26.2 mile distance. Times to follow.
The next club training session will be held on Tuesday, April 17 from 6.30pm at Bells Sports Centre, Perth. Members will meet for the weekly club run, this will be followed by a track training session at the George Duncan Athletics Arena on the following Thursday, April 19.
