Bowls round up July 11

RESULTS in the Mixed Pairs competition District 5 final was won by Mattie McDougall and Jim Hermiston of Aberfeldy BC. Marjory Thomson and Jim Kettles (Errol) led 10-4 and 15-11, but the Aberfeldy pair scored a two on the last end to win 16-15. The finalist were presented with their prizes on behalf of the sponsor Dewars World of Whisky by District SBA Director Eddie Nicholson.

The winners now play at Bridge of Earn BC on Friday, July 25, at 6 30pm in the Inter District play off.

Perth and District

LEAGUE results in at July 8 – Stanley 50pts, Crieff 32, Bridge of Earn 27, Luncarty 26½, Bankfoot 25, Auchterarder 20½, Almondvalley 7, Methven 4.

Draw for NOM will take place at Stanley BC on Monday, July 14, at 7.30pm, all clubs are asked to attend.

West End Bowling Club

THE annual tournament was held on Monday, July 7, when the opening ceremony was performed by local musician John Scrimger.

Results: Open Triples semi-finals – G McDiarmid 6, R Scotland 7; J Sanger 3, V McIntyre 11; final – V McIntyre, R Heggie and J Doig (skip) from Glencarse 5 shots, Chris Speedie, R Scotland and Charlie Speedie from West End 2 shots.

Tuesday, July 8: Ladies Four Bowl Pairs semi finals – I Aitchison/R Cockburn 0, G Powrie/H Winter 9; H Johnston/M Ward 5, M Robertson/M Fleming 3; final – G Powrie/H Winter 6, H Johnston/M Ward 5.

Wednesday, July 9: Open Three Bowl Pairs quarter finals – V McIntyre 1, W Coulter 10; M Pibworth 2, C Stewart 7; J Duncan 5, I Robertson 2; G Adams 7, I West 4; semi finals – W Coulter 1, C Stewart 6; J Duncan 2, G Adams 3; final – J Williamson/C Stewart 5, H Miller/G Adams 6.

LATEST positions in the Perth and District Bowling League, after the results from July 8, are:

THE club tournament is due to take place on Sunday, July 27. This intimation is to advise anyone still wishing to enter that the original closing date has been extended to Wednesday, July 16. Entries should still be submitted to Alex Don, tel 570070.
