Seniors celebrate Best of British title success

FOUR senior Perth bowlers have been hailed the best of British.

Doug Copland skipped the rink which captured the British Isles Seniors’ Rinks Championship in Belfast.

He was joined by lead Bert Smith, second Peter Rodden and third Bill Taylor – pictured.

They were already basking in the glory of becoming the first ever rink to win three consecutive Scottish seniors titles.

The knock-out series in Belfast saw the Scots up against England, Ireland and Wales, along with the Channel Islands.

It was the first ever British seniors championships for the over 60s.

To quality, the Perth rink had to retain their Scottish title. Tommy Clark from Crieff featured in the 2005-7 finals.
