Perth bowler capped for Scotland

STANLEY bowler Scott Shilliday has broken into the Scotland U25 squad.

And the Alliance and Leicester control manager is counting down to a trip to Belfast from September 11-12.

The talented 20-year-old, who took up the game 10 years ago at his local club, has already been capped at U16 level, indoors and out.

He said: “It’s great news and I’m looking forward to it.

“Hopefully the weather will be kind to us in Ireland.”

Meanwhile, a prominent municipal green in Perth is to hold an open day on Sunday (July 18).

The North Inch Bowling Club will welcome visitors and potential new players from noon until 4pm, when putting and bowling competitions, as well as the chance to participate in a variety of games, will be on offer.
