Kinross fighters face the big boys

ASPIRING Big County boxers will take centre stage at a glamour event being held tonight.

The Kinross Boxing Academy is holding its annual gala dinner at the Windlestrae Hotel – and every ticket has been snapped up by eager fight fans.

Youthful pugilists from the small town are set for a re-match against the “big boys” who represent the cream of up-and-coming talent from the Bolton area and the Isle of Man.

However, KBA secretary Andy Caulfield said his proteges are more than used to punching above their weight, proverbially at least.

“The last time we boxed them it was for the Friendship Shield,” he told PA Sport.

“It’s a big challenge, but we’ll be looking to retain the trophy.

“Kinross is just a wee place compared to the two areas we are taking on.”

Boxing legend Dick McTaggart will be on hand to present a trophy bearing his name to KBA’s best stylist of the year.
