SOME of Perthshire’s best young fighters were among those who defeated Irish opposition at Kinross.
In a courageous showing, boxing academy members saw off visitors County Antrim Select in their match at the Windlestrae Hotel.
KBA secretary and coach Andy Caulfield said his side came through “hard fought contests” to record a 5-3 victory.
“The fans were treated to many exciting bouts,” Andy told PA Sport.
The evening’s best young boxer award went to highly-rated home talent Ryan Warden, who scored a points victory against his Northern Ireland counterpart Scott Cunningham.
Best bout was Ally Gonsales’ points triumph over Connor Flannigan, which led to a standing ovation from the 150-strong crowd.
The other results were: Jac Wood won on points against a Select opponent; Arron McNeil won a referee-stopped contest in the first round against James Lawler; Garry Rowley lost a referee-stopped contest in the second round against David Milligan; Gareth Richardson lost on points to Nathan Kane; Dave Drumond won on points against Joel Larmour; and Dave Nelson lost on points against Jamie Rice.
