ONLY eight games survived the terrible wind and rain this weekend and the conditions threw up some eye-opening results.

Home form assured Rattray a third round berth in the North of Tay Cup at the expense of Gateway.

Ballinluig were battered by the rain and the Roselea on the South inch in a one-sided affair with Jackson at the double.

Hutchison, Edgar and Rylance continued the home club’s resurgence.

In Division Two, Burrelton Rovers were winners without kicking a ball as Alyth threw away the chance to go top, losing at home to Fairfield.

Stanley Dunkeld also dropped precious points being held to a stalemate at Kinrossie.

A late switch to Newtyle in the top of the table clash benefited Methven as full points were prised away with a disputed winner.

Letham Lads were taught a harsh lesson by the old heads of Kettins as they mastered the conditions better to thump the confidence of the young guns as Tosh (2), Beattie, Shepherd, Smith and Reid were all on the scoresheet.

Villareal went goal crazy and top of the Third Division with a nine goal blitz of Errol with a solitary strike in reply, while Meigle and Strathearn Grove shared six goals.

Finally, a new dawn was underway at Royale with Kulik in charge and record goal-scorer Scrimgeour returning to the club after a five year exile.

A winning debut looked to be on the cards with Royale two up with 20 minutes to play at home to Kenmore until a nasty injury required an ambulance and with conditions deteriorating rapidly the match was abandoned.
