WITH a full card going ahead in the Ashleigh cup first round, Kinrossie took revenge on Methven after their pre-Christmas defeat in the Perthshire Cup with a strong victory away from home.
Villareal fell to their second defeat on the spin in the cup, this time at the hands of title rivals Newtyle, while a hat-trick from Carr, and goals from Veitch, Cromb and Smith ensured Breadalbane a comfortable win at home to Meigle.
In the Ashleigh Cup second round St Johns made short work of Errol hitting double figures with Carle on form with a nap hand.
In a ding-dong battle at Seven Acres, Roselea were one up at the break and gaffer Fenton made the fateful statement “if they went on to lose he would quit”.
And, after tempting fate, 20 Minutes into the second half, Fenton was made to eat his words as Cargill rounded off his hat-trick to put Letham 5-2 up.
Roselea fought back with two late, late goals but it wasn’t enough in the end.
Ballinluig had their second round tie sewn up by the break through goals by Scrimgeour, Duncan and a Morrison double. Balmoral also eased through at the expense of Star courtesy a Lindsey brace.
Almondvale, after a good winter training regime hit Vale at Pitlochry for four to advance while Bridge of Earn, after a late switch, sneaked past Alyth by the odd goal in five.
Ex Auchter dynamo Creighton’s debut for Wolf hill couldn’t have been sweeter as he scored the only goal of the game over Royale. His ex team-mates fared just as well as goals from Watson, Proff and Wilson secured a third round berth at the expense of Tay Thistle.
On the South Inch, Letham Lads were always up against it against Comrie and went down fighting in the end and in-form Burrelton were in seventh heaven over new boys Kenmore.
Only two ties went the whole distance. After a switch of venue to Rattray, six goals and extra-time, it was Letham United who snuck through on penalties as did Strathearn Grove at home to Kettins .
In the only league game, Bridgeton left it late to beat Fairfield 4-2.
