Cup games hoping to beat the weather

SEVEN remaining Perthshire cup ties are looking to beat the freeze this week and none is bigger that St Johns hosting fierce rivals Roselea at Murray Park.

With the league conceded by club captain Hutchison as too big a task, they will focus their intentions on domestic cup success to salvage their season.

Ballinluig entertain Vale Of Earn in another all division one affair and the Bally boys are hard at work on their park to get this tie played.

A couple of good divisional battles finds Alyth entertaining Tay Thistle and Kettins await the visit of Rattray with both home clubs starting slight favourites to advance.

Letham have the long trip North to Pitlochry to face Vale Of Atholl and although they are out of form, they should be too strong.

Meanwhile, Newtyle have eyes on a division two berth next season with Letham Utd certainly heading the other way. This will be a good test.

The last tie pitches new boys Kenmore in their biggest game yet at in form Bridgeton United.

In the first of many North Perthshire cup ties to be played its Star Of Atholl who are an unlucky thirteen places below their hosts Breadalbane in the League cup.

On league duty Balmoral Utd, still grasping for first division survival will be looking to do a league double over their visitors Bridge of Earn.

In division two, table-topping Stanley await the visit of division favourites Burrelton Rovers and their 100% league record. Kinrossie have hit some form since the winter break and will jump three places with three points on Saturday including leapfrogging their hosts Fairfield.

Both Wolfhill and Almondvale have identical records and are both stuck in the lower half of the table looking for inspiration for an end of season push.

In division three Gateway await the visit of bottom club Errol and start favourites.
