Perthshire Amateur FA round up Mar 10

IT was the status quo at the top of league one as Bridge of Earn remained in second spot with a comfortable four goal home win over Coupar while a full-strength Roselea edged out Balmoral Utd. with a two-goal victory on the Inch.

Breadalbane continue to draw – their fourth in eight games as the points were shared at Vale of Earn while Letham continue to pick up slender one goal victories each week to ease up the table – this time at the expense of Auchterarder.

Ballinluig were unlucky not to do the league double over St John’s. Two-one up with 20 minutes to play, they were unlucky with two very good chances to put the game to bed albeit for some last ditch defending.

Back came St John’s to equalise with 10 minutes to go and in a barn-storming finish had both posts to curse for not gaining the win. On the whole the draw was a fair result.

More dropped points for Burrelton in division two as there were held to a goalless draw at Bridgeton while Stanley increased their lead at the top with a hard fought win at Star.

After a late switch, Alyth triumphed by the odd goal in five over basement boys Letham Utd. while Tay Thistle came out on top in a seven goal thriller at the Bowl over fierce rivals Fairfield after some questionable decisions and a Turner hat trick.

Vale Of Atholl threw away a two goal lead late on at home to Almondvale and Creighton was the hero for Wolfhill, netting in the second-half to counter Kinrossie’s first- half penalty lead.

Comrie Rovers found their scoring touch with an eight-goal demolition of Meigle.

Errol Rovers were 10 minutes away from their first win but conceded two late goals to Letham Lads who salvaged a point at the death. Their manager will rue resting a few big players.
