A JUBILANT Vale of Earn were victorious in reaching the prestigious North of Tay cup final after a comfortable two-goal win over Barnhill at Tulloch Park.
The Vale came out the blocks fast and gave their opposition no time to settle. Although there was no scoring in the first-half, the majority of the play was confined to the Barnhill half.
Barnhill improved early doors in the second period and had their fair share of play for the first 25 minutes without creating any clear-cut chances.
It was inevitable however when the first goal came it went to the Vale with Abernethy rising highest to head home. Barnhill were deflated and its was visible a second was to follow and Revvie duly obliged with a neat turn and shot.
All in all, the Vale win was more than well deserved and they will look forward to a 15 May clash against NCR at Dens Park.
A couple of shocks were spun out in the Perth District Cup semi finals as firstly a late, late extra time header at the Riverside sent Almondvale into the final by the odd goal in five, while Letham Utd came out on top in their derby at Seven Acres thanks to a double from Haire to buck the trend and prove that the much hyped Roselea v Letham final, was just hype.
Balmoral Utd, now safe from the drop eased into the Perthshire semis at the expense of Kettins, while expected wins for Ballinluig at Methven in the North Perthshire League cup and Breadalbane at home to Kenmore in the Birks Cup were duly delivered.
