Auchterarder six a side round up June 19

PERTHSHIRE’S Prostar community Six-a-Side Superleague saw Glenburn Giants and Saints United battle out one of the most entertaining matches of the season as both sides gave it everything for half an hour in search of maximum points.

After a titanic tussle, it was Glenburn who emerged narrow 5–4 winners to claim the bragging rights.

Unathletic Madrid picked up two points with a hard fought 2–0 win against Udineasy and they remain well in the hunt for the runners-up spot with three weeks of the season now remaining.

Langtoun Forres Mechanics did battle with Earnvale Thistle and despite being bottom of the table, Thistle produced a gritty display and will be disappointed to have lost by just a single goal after pushing their opponents all the way in a closely fought game.

Langtoun Locomotiv took on Champions Where is Sophie with the latter expected to celebrate winning the title in style, however Locomotiv spoiled their party as they ground out a hard fought 3–2 victory to stay in the driving seat for the runners-up spot.

League Secretary Paul Spacey commented, “It was interesting to see Sophie lose their second game of the season tonight and that will give the other sides encouragement as the new extended season of 10 teams approaches for the summer. The runners-up spot is still to be decided and looks like it will go right to the wire.”
