Memorial match for Bankfoot player

BANKFOOT Juniors are holding a memorial game for Alan Brown who tragically lost his life in a road accident earlier this year.

Alan, who played with the Bankies for a number of seasons before his untimely death, was a very popular member of their squad.

The Bankies will play a select team drawn from Kinnoull, Jeanfield Swifts, Luncarty and Scone Thistle, all of whom are delighted to co-operate.

There will almost certainly be a number of guest players who were former team mates of Alan and are also keen to take part.

The game will be played at Scone Thistle’s RDM ground on Sunday, July 19, with a 2pm kick-off.

Thistle manager Derek Adam will be in charge of the select team.

Bankies are very grateful for the help they have received from the committee of Scone Thistle in staging the game.

Bankies chairman Robin Wood said: “They have gone out of their way to help us.

“We will be holding a raffle at the game and anyone who wishes to donate a prize should bring it to the game or, if they wish to have it collected, they should contact myself on 01738 623537 or 07870728094.

“Donations will also be very welcome and very much appreciated.”

Alan Brown’s family are donating a trophy which will be handed over to the winners by Mrs Brown.

All proceeds from the game gate receipts, the raffle and any other income will be donated to Cancer Research.
