Perthshire Amateur football round-up

NEW Division One side Craigie bounced back from a heavy defeat on opening day to register their first win in the top flight against Breadalbane.

Potter was again the wizard up front, notching his second hat-trick in as many games.

Defending champions St John’s failed to find the net after a first half of dominance over fierce rivals Roselea, who – with the introduction of Edgar at half-time – looked like a different side.

Jackson and Scrymgeour were the match winners for Morrison’s charges, with a late counter from Quinn not enough.

Auchterarder, despite brimming with so much pre-season optimism, have struggled to come to terms with the loss of Carle and Deans and suffered a second defeat of the campaign to Alyth.

Ballinluig sit top of the pile after a five-goal demolition of Balmoral Utd on their home turf, sending out a clear message they are the team to beat.

Rounding off the Division One results, following on from notching six against the Vale last week at Woodside, Burrelton Rovers struggled on the road, but did enough to sneak the points by the odd goal in three.

Letham recovered from their opening defeat to Coupar Angus with a comfortable win at home to Jeanfield Swifts, inspired by the return of main strike threat Gavin Smith.

Smith recently passed up possible future successes with Kennoway to return and attempt to haul Letham back into the top tier of Perthshire Amateur Football.
