ALYTH are flying the flag for Perthshire in the Scottish Cup.
They are the only remaining Perthshire club with the chance of a sixth round Scottish Cup tie following the exit of Auchterarder at the weekend.
Primrose battled hard against St Mungo’s in their tie, but could not match the superior passing and fitness on the day.
Roselea progressed into the fourth round of the North of Tay cup with a hard fought victory over a determined Morgan side.
Morgan started better and maybe should have scored early on but it was Roselea who took the lead with a good goal from Smith.
Into the second half Roselea went two up with header from Cargill after a good cross from Williamson only for Morgan to pull one back shortly after.
Roselea held on and can count themself fortunate to be in the draw for the next round.
Unfortunately, it was a hat-trick of defeats for the other Perthshire clubs in action, with Letham Lads being hit for six by high-flying Midlands crack Bank Street and Michelin eased passed a faltering Craigie side.
Finally, Wolfhill started their tie at Saturday morning side DC Athletic, conquerors of Bridgeton twice in the last round, with no fewer than seven defenders in their starting line up due to availability and suspensions, strange however, that they lost three goals in each half to be easily dismissed, with only a 89th minute Lackie counter to show for their efforts.
On league duty, Vale of Atholl maintained a faint hope of promotion with a comfortable victory after a late switch to the Brig, goals from Jamieson, Thorne and Irvine, all with headers, ensured a good restart to The Vale’s season.
Strathearn Grove were on easy street at home to Kettins and were well on their way to going joint second with their opponents in the league, only for a second half capitulation, allowing Kettins to knock home three without reply and increase the gap.
