MUCH-hyped and a classic in waiting, the Alyth v Letham North of Tay tie was a one-sided affair in the end.
Alyth clearly showed they have benefited from staying in the top division, easily sweeping aside a lacklustre Letham, hitting them for six without reply.
The first half of the St Johns game was a strange affair, with St Johns controlling it without really getting going.
They took the lead after 16 minutes through Gadsden, McGillivray made it two from the spot and Sweeney made it three by the break.
The second half was only five minutes old when Gadsden got his second followed by a further from Don.
An unfortunate own goal made it six before McGillivray rattled another two for his hat-trick.
No shocks in both the Perthshire and Ashleigh cups, Craigie laboured at home to Star but eked the win while Comrie edged Kinrossie by the odd goal in five, the same scoreline put Ballinluig through at home to Wolfhill who twice led through Brown and Souter, however, the class of the home side with a double from Morrison and a late winner from Fraser was enough.
The Brig switched their tie to Balmoral and were rewarded with a five goal thumping as Murray top-scored with a hat-trick, Auchterarder edged Rattray two goals to nil and this was matched by Letham Lads at Strathearn Grove after an early dismissal for the home club.
The one small shock on the day saw Kettins defeat Tay Thistle at home.
In the Atholl cup it was an easier win than the score would suggest as Thorne, McLauchlan and Thain all scored for the Vale at Kettins.
On league duty, Roselea kept the pressure on at the top sweeping aside the Vale on the South Inch.
Fairfield remain top of the second thanks to a wonder strike from Lynass. Osbourne made it two before player/manager Gormley rolled back the years to tap in from a yard.
The Coupar Angus resurgence continues as they blitzed Bridgeton, however, the win was soured by an incident after the game.
In the third, Meigle were in seventh heaven after turning the table on Methven, matching the seven they scored last week, while Newtyle went that one better, firing eight past a hapless Glenfarg, with Kelly registering the first five goals for Newtyle.
No wonder Glenfarg failed to phone in their score.
