ANOTHER two Perthshire clubs try to advance to a quarter final scheduled for next week, in the North of Tay Cup.

Both Coupar Angus and Roselea are on the trail to Arbroath and the Firies respectively, with Coupar having the best chances of advancing.

Again, cup games dominate the card with a number of ties too close to call. They could all go to extra time on the day.

Letham have faltered in recent weeks and will not relish a tricky trip to Kinrossie, while Alyth will start favourites to see off Wolfhill for the second week in succession, both in the Ashleigh Cup.

In district cup competitions an improved Comrie Rovers will fancy a shock at Auchterarder, Craigie will look to turn last week’s domination of Roselea into a cup shock at home to St Johns who will be smarting after last week’s defeat while the Bridgeton v Swifts tie is too close to call.

In the Marshall Cup, third division title rivals Newtyle and Kettins will take a break from league duty with the home club slight favourites as Stott and Penman are in fine form.

Two North Perthshire ties will see both Ballinluig and Breadalbane start red hot favourites away to Methven and Star respectively.

Of the handful of league games cast, the game of the day finds in form Balmoral, boosted by last week’s cup win over St Johns facing title chasing Burrelton Rovers, looking to avoid a similar collapse to the one at the end of last season.

League leaders Fairfield will face their stiffest test yet as they face Letham Lads, conquerors of the once mighty Letham last week, while the future will be bleak for the Brig if they do not begin to pick up vital league points to avoid the drop and this needs to commence this week at home to Thistle.

In Division Three, Glenfarg await the visit of Meigle in what would have maybe been an easy three points before Christmas, however, the Vics have strengthened and found some form and could push them all the way, while Kenmore and Strath go head to head at a snowed in Aberfeldy.
