SUNDAY night at Bell's Sports Centre saw the first cup fixtures of the season as the recreational teams competed for the League Cup.
Teams were drawn in three sections with one section of four teams and two sections of three teams.
In all fixtures the teams played one set of 20 minutes with cup holders Kintronics looking to retain the trophy won this time last year.
The opening game on court one saw current recreational league champions Kinross BB take on Aberfeldy side School Rules and the league champs were in for a shock as the new team on the block ran out winners by 28 points to 21.
On court two, it was derby time with Kinross Kintronics playing Kinross Scotrange.
The young Scotrange side led from the start but with minutes remaining they lost their composure allowing Kintronics back into the game.
At full time the score was level at 17 points each and with a result required it was Kintronics who triumphed with a hitting error from Scotrange handing their neighbours victory.
Second game on court one saw Kinross BB get back into winning ways disposing of Motley Crew 29–15.
Court two's second game was again a local derby with Kinross Boys and Girls Brigade playing Scotrange.
The BGB youngsters did well to keep within touching distance of the Scotrange side with new members Mathew MacDonald and Jackson Brown acquitting themselves well. But it was Scotrange who finished ahead 26–24.
When Kinross BGB met Kintronics they were no match for their more experienced opponents who won quite comfortably 35–14.
Back on court one Anne Condliffe and her Tay Pearls played Kinross BB. The game was closely contested in the early stages but the BB side pulled ahead to record victory by 26 points to 18.
Section one's remaining games on court one saw School Rules pip Motley Crew 27–25, and School Rules just edge Tay Pearls 23–22 with Tay Pearls having an equally close victory over Motley Crew 16–15.
This meant School Rules, Kinross BB and Kintronics qualified for the semi-finals with Dunfermline Phoenix joining them having qualified from their section.
In the first semi-final School Rules defeated Kintronics 36–31 with Kinross BB overcoming Dunfermline 34–29 to set up a final which was a repeat of the opening fixture on court one – Kinross BB versus School Rules.
It was a nervous start for both sides but the BB team settled better and crept ahead thanks to some fine hitting from John Booth and Peter Eade.
Ray McIntosh in the Aberfeldy side steadied things for a period but it was Kinrosss BB who added the League Cup to their League Championship trophy winning 46–33.
