SAINTS’ chairman Geoff Brown yesterday announced season ticket prices will be frozen – despite the club embarking on its most ambitious signing policy in years.
And as a reward to fans who headed for Hampden on Sunday admission to the final game of the season against Livingston on Saturday will be just £5.
Brown said the Friday signings of Liam Craig (three years), Martin Hardie (two years) and Peter MacDonald (two years) was a show of intent for next season. Others will follow, with the Perth club keen to extend the stay of Jody Morris at McDiarmid Park.
Brown said: “It’s hard when it comes down to penalties but our fans had a great day at Hampden. I just wish we could have given them their first Scottish Cup final. But you have to be realistic and Rangers have made the last four of the UEFA Cup and are chasing four trophies while we are third in the First Division.
“That’s us made three of the last four semi-finals with a Challenge Cup win thrown into the mix. But now we have to focus on getting out of the First Division. The manager has identified players he wants and we are doing our best to bring them, or keep them here.
“The directors decided that with some money coming in from the cup run we will reward the season ticket holders by freezing prices and show the club’s appreciation for the support against Rangers by allowing everyone in for a fiver this weekend.
“Hopefully fans who made the journey will be encouraged to join the ranks of season ticket holders for next season.
“We are all looking forward with optimism to next season and the better the atmosphere at McDiarmid, the better the players will respond.”
