Saints boss still on talent search

HE might have been holidaying in the Florida sunshine but Derek McInnes found his mobile phone as hot as the weather.

The St Johnstone manager continues to advance his search for fresh talent and he hit the ground running yesterday after his summer break with the family.

Modern communications meant McInnes kept tabs on potential acquisitions during his US trip, with a target man and left-back obvious requirements.

The Perth club have been linked with Inverness Caley Thistle striker Graham Bayne in recent weeks but Dunfermline are emerging as favourites to land a centre with a fee on his head.

The 28-year-old still has 12 months left on his contract in the Highlands but has indicated he would be prepared to talk to the Pars and Saints.

Dunfermline, meanwhile, have noted they won’t be pursuing released Perth keeper Kevin Cuthbert.
