ST Johnstone haven’t lost away from home since August and that’s had punters poring over 8/11 match win odds posted by Blue Square ahead of tomorrow’s encounter with bottom club Airdrie at the Excelsior Stadium.
Saints swept past Airdrie in October, beating them 3-1 at McDiarmid Park, only the second time in meetings between the pair that the margin of victory has been greater than one goal.
Little wonder that Betdaq mark Airdrie at 4/1 to win and another online firm, Canbet, post 11/4 against the draw: on paper at least, this looks like an away banker.
Punters who think likewise could be enjoying a profitable afternoon.
For example, Coral rate the chances of the Saints being in front at the break as an 11/8 shot, while bet365 mark them at 13/5 to hold a 1-0 lead as they disappear for their half time cuppa.
Those who suspect a first-half advantage will be maintained in the second can get 13/8 (Betfred) about the Saints holding a lead at the end of both halves.
If there is a blight on St Johnstone’s away record, it’s that they have kept only one clean sheet all season.
No side has scored fewer home goals than Airdrie.
So it’s understandable that Partybets’ 6/1 for St Johnstone to win 1-0, or the 7/1 offered by Jaxx.com against a 2-0 success are both worthy of further consideration.
