FANS favourite Paul Sheerin has secured a return ticket to the SPL.
The veteran Perth midfielder yesterday agreed a new 12-month contract to extend his stay at McDiarmid Park.
Sheerin – pictured – who topped a memorable season by winning his first ever
championship medal, last savoured top flight experience with Aberdeen.
Now, he will pass the 200th start milestone for Saints in the SPL.
After clinching the contract extension, the Perth-based midfielder said: “I’m delighted to get the contract signed. There was never any doubt in my mind I would be staying if the club offered me a new contract.
“I’m really looking forward to returning to the SPL. I was at that level for 18 months with Aberdeen and at first everything I touched turned to goals. Unfortunately that didn’t continue.
“But I feel as fit as I’ve ever done and I’m convinced I can do a job
for St Johnstone at that level. Hopefully I can take my form of the last few months into the new season.”
Manager Derek McInnes said: “We’re delighted to have Paul on board for the SPL season. His experience at that level will be vital.
“He is the perfect role model and the consummate professional.
“Paul will be a vital part of the first team squad.
“He featured in the
vast majority of games last season. He is blessed with exceptional
skill and it’s no surprise he is so popular with our supporters,” added the Perth boss.
