Collin Samuel gets international recall

THREE years ago Collin Samuel was featuring in the World Cup in Germany.

Among the Soca Warriors’ opponents in that campaign was a star-studded England side.

But the Trinidad and Tobago striker was frozen out of the islanders’ set-up after being caught up in a bonus payment fall-out.

Now, with former Falkirk pin-up Russell Latapy counting down to his first match in charge, the St Johnstone attacker features in the squad to face Costa Rica tomorrow.

Jason Scotland, now at Swansea, is also in line for a start.

Latapy has handed Samuel an international recall after his exploits late in the First Division campaign.

The Saint is delighted to be back in the fold for the CONCACAF clash.

He said: “It's great to be back in the national team.

“ I've been away for some time and with St Johnstone, my club in Scotland, things have gone pretty well.

“I've been playing and enjoying my football.

“On Saturday, hopefully we can get it right and bring home the three points.

“It's a good opportunity for us to get back into the race for South Africa.”
