A PERTH team slipped into top gear to lap-up success in the Mercedes-Benz Golf Trophy.

And now local John R Weir customers Bruce Band and Michael Norval, joined by Robert Fleming from Bo’ness, are heading for the national finals in Portugal.

The Mercedes-Benz Golf Trophy is regarded as one of the most prestigious amateur championships in the world, spanning 27 nations and attracting over 57 thousand players.

The John R Weir team was selected from a local competition held at Murrayshall and it was on to the Open-qualifying course at Delamare Forest in Cheshire.

The Fair City team turned in an impressive display to secure their places at the Vila Sol Golf Resort in Vilamoura.
