KING James VI starlet Ian Redford reached the final of the prestigious St Andrews Boys Open.
The former Scottish under age champion charged through a high quality field but lost out to 18-year-old Nicky Maddison, a county champion from Newcastle.
Three years ago the event was won by Chris Wood, who recently finished 5th in the Open, taking the amateur medal.
At just 15, Ian is probably the youngest ever finalist in this event.
Since that success at the Home of Golf he has been crowned the U-16’s Fife Schools stroke-play champion and has also been selected to represent the Scottish Schools (U-18) against England at Royal Lytham St Anne’s next month.
