Magners Championship set to roll

BIG County hopefuls are in the mix for the Magners Scottish Golf Club Championship, now one of the biggest and fastest growing amateur championships in the country.

On September 17, Crieff Golf Club hosts a regional final.

Among those participating from Perth and Kinross are Trevor Jones and Calum Frost (King James VI), Dave Burnside and Charlie Pirrie (Alyth), Scott Springthorpe and Iain Davidson (Bishopshire), Lee O’Brien and Keith Coston (Blair Atholl), Peter Scott-Gardiner and David Armstrong (Blairgowrie), Graham Thom and Ryan Shannon (Crieff), Gary Green and Austin Hutchison (Culcrieff), Derek Walker and Chic Doogan (Dunkeld), W Hill and and Graham Marshall (Kenmore), Robert Irvine and Roddy Clark (Kinross), Shaun Butcher and Alistair Ewan (Milnathort), Robert Howkins and Peter Barnett (Strathmore), P. Ely and Jim Greenfield (Taymouth), Brian Murphy and George Grierson (Muckhart), Scott Smith and Patrick O’Shaughnessy (Murrayshall) and Ian Shepherd and Donald Morrison (Pitlochry).

Scottish Tour professional and ambassador for the championship, Lloyd Saltman,has been impressed by the scores submitted during the qualifying rounds.

He’ll be joining the finalists on October 6 at The Carrick to see the winner sink the final putt.
