McPhee to lead Scottish U16s

KING James VI starlet Paul McPhee has been selected to captain a Scottish U16 team facing the North of England this weekend.

The former Scottish U16 champion is hoping to stake a claim for the side which will face England in a head to head next month.

The fifth year Perth Academy pupil, now playing off 0.3, said: “It is a great honour to be asked to captain the Scotland team.

“The target now is to consolidate my place in the team to face England on October 6 and 7 at South Staffs.”

This weekend’s clash with the North select takes place at Monkton Hall near Musselburgh.

The Scottish team features a mix of established caps and newcomers to the U16 scene.

THE King James VI Golf Week has gone from strength to strength.

The Island course reports 108 entrants for an event which reaches a climax today. That’s a 22% increase on 2007.
