Wee Wonder on course

TINY terror of the fairways Alex Simpson is chasing a golfing dream, writes Gordon Bannerman.

The eight-year-old Caledonian Road primary pupil is making an impression at Murrayshall Golf Club.

He’s already sparkled in Wee Wonders events and recently travelled to compete in England. Alex also bagged a Tiny Tiger trophy at Saline.

He might be too young to attract a sponsor but his family were delighted when Callum Menzies of Fair City Skips again stepped forward to tee-up a donation towards travel costs.

Mum Fiona, Firbank Road, said: “Alex now has a handicap of 25 and he is making steady progress.

“He was playing with plastic clubs at first but went to Noah’s Ark before joining Murrayshall.

“He is super keen and now his dad, Kevin, has had to take up the game. But he’s not as good as Alex!”
