Course set for Monty

GROUND staff at Dunning Golf Club have been hard at work this week ensuring the course is in tip-top condition for the visit of Colin Montgomerie today.

The former number one on the European Tour’s order of merit from 1993-1999 is taking part in an exhibition foursomes match on the picturesque nine-holer.

The event will help raise funds for the new Rollo Park Community Pavilion. Work on the six-figure clubhouse is expected to start in the new year.

Club captain Dave Taylor will drive the first ball at 10am and then hand over to lady captain Moira Aitken who will partner Monty.

They will be challenged by ladies’ champion Lynne Sharp and gents’ champion Sandy Hunter.

Entry will be by a £5 prize draw ticket, with several top prizes up for grabs.

They include a game for four on the PGA Course at Gleneagles, a food hamper, supplied by local butcher Simon Howie, and a voucher from Dunning builder Jim Crow.

Youngsters under 16 will be admitted free to watch the golfing great.

After the challenge match, Monty will give a master class to the golf club’s flourishing youth section.
