Big County golfing stars get in motion

MSP Roseanna Cunningham teed-up a motion in the Scottish Parliament congratulating the Scottish team on the World Amateur Team Golf Championship triumph.

Roseanna said: “I was delighted to learn of the victory by the Scottish team in the World Amateur Team Golf Championship.

The team, which included Comrie’s Wallace Booth and Perth’s Gavin Dear, defeated 13-times winners the United States

“It is only eight years since Scotland first entered the event as a separate nation, having previously participated as part of a Great Britain and Ireland team which won the title just four times in the 50-year history of the event.

“By lodging a motion in the Parliament, I am inviting MSPs to join me in sending the Parliament’s congratulations to Wallace and his team mates, Gavin Dear and Callum Macaulay, as well as their team captain, George Crawford, for their brilliant success in matching their professional counterparts who will set out next month to defend their 2007 title in the Omega Mission Hill World Cup.”
