Blairgowrie is teed-up for big day

THE Blairgowrie Golf Club Championship reaches the semi-final stage today with the final played over 36 holes on Sunday.

The John Watson Trophy (handicap championship) also sees the final on Sunday over 18 holes.

The semi finals of the Ladies Championship is tomorrow with finals on Sunday, while the Junior Championship also reaches a climax on Sunday.

Today sees the Lady Captain’s day, with over 70 ladies expected to attend. It is Captain’s Day tomorrow, with a barbecue in the evening.

Earlier this month, Brenda Clough celebrated a hole in one at the ninth during a Lansdowne ladies medal.

She was playing with Ray Brass who had, last year, presented a trophy to the Ladies Section in memory of her mother, Patience Halhead, who had been a member for many years.

This trophy was to go to any lady having a hole in one in a competition and the fact that Brenda was the first winner and she was playing with the trophy presenter was a little bit different!
