Booth nets a trip to Loch Lomond

WORLD champ Wallace Booth has bagged a prized invitation to rub shoulders with the elite pros during the Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond, writes Gordon Bannerman.

Comrie player Booth will be one of just two amateurs participating in the star-studded, world class field lined-up for July 9. It will include crowd-pulling maverick John Daly, a controversial two times Major winner.

The prize pot for the event is in excess of £3 million.

PA Sport can reveal that Scottish Strokeplay champion Booth has been handed a passport to the championships by fellow world amateur team champion Callum Macaulay’s decision to turn pro. He is the current Scottish Am champion.

Scotland colleague Glenn Campbell from Blairgowrie lapped-up a trip to the tournament when he was Scottish champion.

Booth and Eisenhower Trophy teammate Gavin Dear were both in contention for the Loch Lomond invitation.
