Inch plan hopes to find some Tigers

ASPIRING young local golfers keen to emulate the success of Tiger Woods can now take up the sport thanks to the launch of a new junior academy in Perth, in association with North Inch Golf Course.

Hosted by golf professional Colin Roberts, the North Inch Course is offering junior coaching programmes to boys and girls between the ages of 8–16, which will offer a comprehensive introduction to golf.

Colin said: “The success of players like Tiger Woods and Annika Sorenstam has made golf extremely popular with young people, but the problem for most has been how to get started in the game.

“Now for the first time at the North Inch an exciting junior golf programme is available to young people, which not only makes it easy for them to start playing golf but also helps them to progress to a level where they can compete with other youngsters or simply enjoy playing a healthy, relaxing sport for the rest of their lives.”

Over the school holidays Colin will be running summer camps for junior members and non-members alike.

Information about the programmes can be picked up from the starters’ box at North Inch.

Everyone who enrols will learn how to play and the rules and etiquette of golf.

Participants will also take part in fun activities and challenges and mini-competitions to ensure that the experience is all about having a good time playing golf.

There is also coaching available for adults of all ages and abilities, and Colin will be providing group or individual tuition.
