CLARET jug engraver Garry Harvey was up against the cream of European golf at the De Vere Collection PGA Seniors’ Championship.
And the Kinross professional – an honorary Craigie Hill member – acquitted himself well against Ian Woosnam and company by making the cut across Slaley Hall's notoriously difficult Hunting Course.
While Carl Mason captured his third PGA Seniors’ title – and the 21st of his senior career – Harvey, who each year hits the limelight when he engraves the name of the Open Championship winner on the famous claret jug, proved he can play a bit too by being one of 64 pros to make the cut at the prestigious 72-hole event.
The Scot eventually finished at five over for the championship with a solid weekend display, shooting rounds of 71 and 72 for a four-round total of 293 for a share of 31st place, one stroke ahead of former Ryder Cup stalwarts Eamonn Darcy and Costantino Rocca.
