MORE than 100 players, representing 26 golf clubs from Shetland to Shropshire, enjoyed the annual Golf Week at the Island, which was again sponsored by Ness Motors.
Difficult weather conditions in the week leading up to the King James VI event and during the qualifying rounds finally gave way to pleasant, sunny weather.
Club captain Ray Smethurst said: “Despite what has to have been one of the wettest summers we have had, the green staff did a marvellous job in providing our guests with a playable and challenging course during the early part of the week.”
In the 36-hole Scratch Final Mo Lindsay (Broughty Golf Club) fought back in the last few holes to record a narrow victory over Mike Robertson (Selkirk Golf Club).
The Scratch to 12 Handicap Final was contested by 2 King James members, with Eddie Hunter lifting the trophy by defeating Charles Taylor.
The 13-24 Handicap Final resulted in victory for Brian Watt (Camperdown Golf Club) over Andrew Edwards (King James).
