Trilby Tour at Murrayshall

FATHER and son pair Davie and Don Hutchison are counting down to a top golf event teed-up for Murrayshall on Wednesday (July 28).

All the razzmatazz of a William Hunt Trilby Tour event supported by Sky Sports unfolds at the Scone course.

And the Murrayshall members are among a clutch of Big County players among the 90 signed-up for the competition.

It will be filmed by Sky for future broadcast and spectators are welcome to go along and give their support to the various local players.

Four handicapper Davie and son Don, who plays off six, admit they’re stepping into the unknown.

“I’ve no idea if I’ll be nervous or not with the cameras being there. This is something totally new for both of us,” said David.

Their entry fee secured an array of goodies, including a golf bag and gear to look the part on the day.

The Scottish heat, in a Stableford format, will pave the way for the winner to take part in a top pro-am south of the border later in the season.

David said: “We are friendly with the pros at Murrayshall and when they mentioned the event was coming here we decided to enter. Hopefully local knowledge will give us a wee advantage.”

They will certainly look the part, with the Trilby event the brainchild of golfing aficionado and Savile Row businessman William Hunt. It’s the first time the event has moved north of the border and it has attracted entrants from England, Ireland and even Dubai.

The ultimate play-off will unfold over the 10th, 11th and 18th holes.

Twelve of Wednesday’s participants will make for the final at the Buckinghamshire.
