Golfer Gavin fourth in Belgium

SCONE golfer Gavin Dear is on course for another crack at the European Tour School.

Scotland’s Eisenhower Trophy amateur world champion – pictured – moved into the pro ranks last season.

In his latest Alps Tour event the Murrayshall man enjoyed a joint fourth place finish in Belgium.

That was enough to promote him from seventh to sixth in the Order of Merit.

That could prove timely as ambitious Gavin again has his sights set on joining the household names by securing a Tour card.

The top six in the Alps Tour are exempt from the first stage of Tour School. Gavin carded rounds of 74, 65, 66 and 71 for 276, three behind the winner in Belgium.
