Golf course appeal

AN English-based golf historian is seeking information on long-gone Big County golf courses.

John Llewellyn, based in Staffordshire, is going back down memory lane and has turned to PA Sport for help.

He said: “I'm particularly looking for information on Ballinluig and Logierait, Blackford, Doune, Glenfarg and Kinloch Rannoch.

“If possible, I would like a course history, location, number of holes, club records, club members and of course any pictures of the courses that may be out there.

“I will return any documents, pictures etc if required. Most of the clubs existed in the first part of the 20th Century so are just about within living memory for some people. It’s possible that some of the clubs may have amalgamated with current clubs so that would be useful to know.

“If anyone has any information on any other clubs that have disappeared that are not listed that would be a bonus.

“I can be contacted by post at 14 Church Lane, Barton under Needwood, Burton upon Trent, Staffs DE13 8HU or by email at johnllewellyn4@gmail.com”

John embarked on a golfing labour of love 20 years ago and now he has taken early retirement he plans to devote more time to his passion.
