PERTH is at the forefront of a golf initiative imported from the USA.
Tomorrow sees the start of a programme teed-up by the US Kids Golf Foundation and SNAG Europe in partnership with Perth and Kinross Council to deliver family golf coaching programmes at the North Inch.
The North Inch Family Golf Centre is inviting parents and their children to come along and participate in the launch event at 10am.
They will learn all about the USKG programme and can try out the equipment at the same time. There will also be a club-fitting session for children to be fitted with the USKG equipment.
The International Golf Development team, who were a great success at the recent Glasgow Golf Show, will also be available to deliver SNAG (Start New At Golf). They will deliver a mini 9-hole golf course event with user-friendly, specially designed SNAG golf equipment for people who are new at golf.
The Family Golf Coaching Programme is a structured educational syllabus designed to introduce boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 14 to the game of golf and encourages parents to learn alongside their children, helping them develop the skills and knowledge of the game.
North Inch club professional Colin Roberts said: “We can now offer children and their parents the fabulous US Kids programme which incorporates a specially designed short course, within the golf course, where families will together learn how to play the game, rules and etiquette, through exciting activities, fun challenges and mini competitions to ensure that the whole family golfing experience is about having fun.
“We have an untapped resource of potential future members and frequent players and this exceptional USKG programme will open the doors to children as well as families just waiting for the opportunity to learn to play the game of golf together.”
