Pitlochry golf festival

PITLOCHRY Golf hosted a successful annual Junior Festival of Golf.

With wonderful weather and a great turnout of 38 kids from all over the Highland Perthshire area, it was a fine advert for all the hard work that on-site PGA professional Mark Pirie, members and volunteers put in.

On the day, there were seven competitors playing in a flag competition over 18 holes and this event was won by Joe Farquhar from Inverness.

The nine hole competition for three competitors was won by local lad Atholl Davidson in a keenly contested game with both of his partners. It came down to the last few shots on the 9th green.

Over the two coaching sessions held between 11am and 2pm there were 28 kids taking part in putting games and drills, chipping, iron and wood play. It was rounded off by more fun, by playing a target golf game hitting balls into a whisky barrel.

A small rules and etiquette quiz was teed-up to all those present on the day and 18 came back with a score of 10 out of 10.

The club offers a big thank you to all the kids and their parents that went along on the day.

Many golf club members again showed their willingness to help boost the progress that Pitlochry is trying to encourage the junior section.
