Plea to keep club tradition going

CLUBS throughout Perth and Kinross compete annually in the Hay Robertson four man team competition, being defending by Perth Artisans this year, writes Gordon Bannerman.

The 2011 event is scheduled for Saturday, June 11.

The trophy was presented to the local golfing community nearly 100 years ago by successful golfer Robert Hay Robertson when the Inch was extended to 18 holes in 1925.

Over the last 20 years the Artisans have won the event more than any other club.

Down the decades, many quality players have participated, including current pro Gavin Dear of Murrayshall.

Their first competition took place last weekend in the shape of the Campbell Dickson trophy.

The closing date and draw for the Hay Robertson competition will be Monday, June 6.

It is an 18-hole strokeplay event.

Entry forms are available from North Inch Golf starters on 01738 636481 and it is £20 per team.
