Craigie Hill Centenary

CRAIGIE Hill members past and present toasted the club’s 100th anniversary in style.

Past captains joined current captain Bill Smeaton and past club champions for a milestone game of golf and a celebratory dinner, seizing the opportunity for a stroll down memory lane.

The Hill officially opened in June 1911 when local entrepreneur Francis Norie-Miller drove the first ball down the fairway.

Club captain H.J. Bell and D.M. Cuthbert of King James VI played an exhibition match with pro Joe Anderson.

New signage was presented to mark the centenary by Charles Evans, president of the Rotary Club of Perth.

The Rotary club has enjoyed close links with the Hill and Mr Norie-Miller played an integral role with both clubs.

A series of centenary events have been organised by a Craigie Hill committee and a sponsored golf ball drop will take place over the summer.
